I've looked at that and the 10watt version as well, and it comes to mind the Shortage of Todays Tech for the aspiring Carrier Wave enthusiasts here and in the Service. We have over 800 members of the board with interest gaining everyday, and our theme has always been AM Homebrew, Tech Support, Promotion of A1 operations and good will, and Equipment Recovery and Rebuilding. But what are we offering any perspective new member and avid interest passer by..? Direct on site here, looking at it overall, for the aspiring homebrewer there's alot of reading, diging through the different sites availible, questions, alot of hasstle to go through to accomplish a basic transmitter. My thought is to put a team together of Senior Techs availible on site here willing to offer up a 100 watt transmitter of our own design Class E, Hollow state etc, pen it to the site in a Sticky Format with all documentation Schematics Diagrams and Part sources, Keep it in the open, in View, Handy, and Availible... Most complaints i get when discussing AM with anyone outside of the group is "I don't want to get involved with High Voltage", "I Like AM But What's Availible..?", " I really don't want to rebuid an older transmitter" I mean the list goes on and on...So wouldn't it Behoove us to set up something of this sort Here..? Gentlemen by Contrast comparing what's availible, The K1, K2,K2/100, The Norcal Products, Prospects for Am are mighty Slim... Any Thoughts..? Title: Re: Check it out.... That's a good idea, Jack. Every good site needs sizzle that grabs the casual browser. A "STICKY" that says, " Build this simple AM 100 W solid state transmitter for the HI-FI sound!"... or something like that would do the trick. The class E designs and "in-depth" documentation are good, however, for a first time builder, even experienced tube guys, it's a nightmare to figure out. It requires many hours of reading and many questions axed on the air. I went thru it as well as most everyone else building their first E rig. The second time is easy. I agree that a simple schematic with sample layouts and photos of ONE specific design would be great. Maybe 6 pills in push pull. It needs to include the H modulator board and everything documented in one place step by step with photos. It should be geared to the first time builder, which will be a challenge. It's the logical next Step in the Forums Offering, even if it's just a mono-bander, three bander wud be nice, full fidelity 100 watt transmitter. The prospect of this fully covered, all questions answered, pictures taken step by step processing with documented support, on Site.. it would take off like a fire storm...look what happened with the K1..but our system is for the interested and Not for Profit... Think about it "Dad Look a transmitter we can build from the Am Guys"..everythings here...what the Publications are falling short on we can produce and Fill the Void that's been needing attention...by keeping the hazards minimal using DDS or phase locked loop Design and follow through with solid state mixers already availible and polish it up with either Hollow or solid state PA's...at the 100 watt class the stage could be designed with No chance of Harm...it's possible... My only request that the availibility of CW would be built in as well. I Know in my heart this is the next step... Title: Check it out.... No.... just kidding. Good idea Jack. I've been racking my pea brain trying to come up with a 100 watt carrier class portable transmitter that will operate on 12VDC to use at the huntin' cabin. If it has to be 24 or 36 or even 48VDC that's ok. I gots the batteries to do it. If anyone has an idea I'm all ears. Ifn I come up with something I'll be sure to share it. Title: Check it out....
