definitely 2xx something.  Quite the flash and the 2 pops could be indicative of 2 hot conductors.

Well, 277v is one leg of 480v 3phase.  At least in the US.

In most of Europe, it is 380/220.

Not sure where this happened.

I had an electrician (supposedly....  Idiot couldn't even run a screw gun) blow himself off a ladder by being hit with 277.

Hes lucky the meth kept his heart going.

Idiots.

Is that the same guy that got double dog dared into licking the metal phone pole during that icy winter  of ‘52?

you could see that he was preparing for a large flash.
I worked in a building where they shipped 277 around. Advantage??? You can use smaller gauge wire around the building?

The advantage with 277 is in simplified lighting circuits.

If the facility has 480V 3Ph, you take each leg and neutral and split up the load among L1 L2 L3  to balance the lighting fixtures.

It makes a difference in things like schools, factories, and large stores.

Beats using iron to get it down to 120V.

This, right here.

You design a 20 amp circuit to be loaded to 16 amps.

You get LOTS more lights on a 277 16A circuit than you will on a 120 16A circuit.

Which translates into a lot less wire, a lot less conduit, a smaller panel with less breakers, less time paying me to land all that additional wire in a panel.

277 is just a lot more economical when you have it.

And fewer light bulbs get stolen.

Oh, sorry, I mean. 'lamps'.
