Title: Capacitor and tube source list Post by: WA2SQQ on January 12, 2022, 06:40:40 PM Some time ago I recall seeing a few lists of dealers selling capacitors and tubes. I have a friend that is starting to restore an old juke box. If the list does not exist, suggestions?

For tubes, I will often buy on ebay if it isn't hamfest season.
For tubes, never rely too much on a tube tester which is excellent at making both type 1 and type 2 errors regardless of the tester quality. A lot of tubes that test fairly poor on a tester will work just fine in their circuit while many tube faults (i.e. secondary emission) won't show up until the tube is at full operating temperature which will never happen in a tube tester. And many tubes that look fine at DC/low AC which is the environment in a tester will fail miserably at RF, the 12BY7A used as a driver in many SSB transceivers commonly exhibits this behavior causing the owner to chase every cause except the actual cause of poor RF output level. Tektronix put it best in their old 500 series lab grade scope manuals that the only real test of a tube is whether it performs as intended in that particular circuit.
