Title: Valiant padder caps
Post by: K2GTM on January 03, 2022, 06:54:11 PM
I'm working on a Valiant that has some blown padder caps (C38A-D).  What cap(s) would be best suited here?  Would a single 150pF 7.5kV doorknob work?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes it would but that seems to be a lot of overkill in the voltage department, as the P/L lists them as 500V devices.

I did notice that in the parts list, but I was wondering about using a cap that could handle the RF. I have some 3kV and 6kV disc caps I could use, I just don't know about their RF current handling capability. Or, maybe the RF levels are low enough not to worry about it?

circulating current is roughly Q x in/out current of a pi net tuner.  this is aggravated by 100% duty factor of am.  something beefy is needed

Thanks, Beefus.  I found some nice looking doorknobs on eBay that would work, but they're in the Ukraine and will take a while to get here.
