I have had one of these for a couple of years. I did a head to head test of it against my R-390. It has about equal sensitivity as the r-390 but was a little behind in selectivity, especially when trying to copy a weak station very close to a strong station. It covers a very wide freq. range, has a slow scan spectrum analyzer which works fine and is interactive with the receiver controls, and it has a data output for use in interfacing with a P.C. for digital wx maps, teletype, etc. Audio output to the built in speaker is PISS WEAK as to be almost worthless and it really needs to be amplified and fed to a "REAL LOUDSPEAKER" All in all I like it; it is fun.
