Title: EZNEC These Days?
Post by: Tom WA3KLR on April 07, 2021, 07:39:10 PM
I never put EZNEC on this newest p.c.  I found my latest version from 2001 - EZNEC 3.0 on DVD.  Worked fine for what I was doing with wire antennas. I haven't tried to load it. The disc says for Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME, remember from 2001. I don't need to optimize a yagi design.

The latest version I saw mentioned on the internet was EZNEC 6+.  I did not see any way to purchase EZNEC these days.  Obviously Roy Lewallen is/has thrown in the towel on his product at some point.

The questions are :

Is a new version purchasable?  If so, what does it offer over 3.0?

Do p.c. experts think the old 3.0 will run o.k. with Windows 10 Home?

Thanks.

Try loading it on W10.  If it doesn't like it, it'll let you know.

Thanks Kevin.  I could not find eznec info when I was researching it a week ago for what ever reason.  I will study what eznec 6 has to offer and/or try the 3.0 disc I have.

Thanks guys.

I corresponded with Roy and got my old 'customer ID' number from him, required for internet download upgrade. I'm up and running EZNEC + v.6.0 now, many new features to learn since v.3.0!
