Title: grid and plate current reading with no meter... pilot lamp
Post by: W4AMV on April 01, 2021, 03:06:51 PM
Used this on a novice rig as a kid.
Forgot the details and cannot recall if it used link coupling
to the oscillator driver tank and the plate tank. Or just in series
as shown here with the grid leak return and HV to the plate.

I recently found that arrangement in a 1950 handbook for a mobile rig.
Schematic attached.

Any folks on the forum use this for peaking the grid drive and
dip and loading plate current? A
s I recall, it worked great. I believe
it used a #47 dial lamp. Same lamp used to peak oscillator drive.
I am short on meters, so looking at giving this a try in a transmitter
under construction.

Any issues with HV flash over. The unit documented in the handbook is at 300V.
How high a V before an incandescent lamp like a #47 flashes over? I think my 6DQ5 was on 500V.

Thanks, Alan
