Lol
I do a weekly scan of the FM broadcast band. In the cities of Paterson and Passaic I logged 6 pirate stations last week. I’ve reported 2 about a year ago when I discovered one of their dirty transmitters was putting out some RF on the input of a local PD repeater. The FCC shut them down and a week later they moved frequency. They are even accepting local advertising! We all need to report such activity.

People must be mighty bored to set up 'real' pirate stations.

LOL illegal but often some free speech and/or other interesting material which could never be supported through 'normal' licensing and advertising channels.

The FCC in that map should also advertise the station name and frequency!

The other day I found the news clipping from when Alan Weiner had that ship off the coast of Long Island. Back in the 70’s my friend Fred, now K1IO, had a local pirate station in NJ and got busted. He beat the case, as I recall because the FCC took evidence that wasn’t listed in the subpoena.

I know of a guy that has been a pirate broadcaster for over 20 yrs without stop from the same spot...  Johnson Viking 1 and a loop antenna on the picket fence around his home...No advertising, just music and most everyone in the village can copy...Very low power, low key and no one can find any reason to stop him...nor should they....

Follow the money.

CBers are hitting 100 kw and higher.  They get left alone.

Pirates with a few hundred watts are stealing advertising dollars.  GET 'EM!

Thanks for posting that link. I would have never imagined there would be that many pirate stations!

I agree, censorship is a real thing right now.
