Does anyone happen to what type microphone was with this old rig? manual calls for a T350-C mic I am using an old D-104 and the modulation is a little low, tried another of my many D-104 and was a little better. Of course I could use a amplified D-104. 1st audio stage 6EA8 resistor was listed for 560K measured 804K replaced not much audio gain. May be just a mic problem? Nobody on six at that time seemed overly interested in high fidelity AM, but I don't recall any complaints either. One day I left it on to warm up and stabilize the VFO while I went downstairs to make a sandwich. I noticed the characteristic smell of burning radio, returned to the rig, and found the transformer spewing dense smoke. Make certain to provide adult supervision for yours at all times.

The Turner 350C is a high impedance ceramic microphone. see: https://www.ebay.com/c/1400262408 High impedance D-104 should work fine . Almost any kind of crystal mike (if the innards are in good shape) should work. |
