Title: Military 40m AM net this morning 9/5/20
Post by: K4NYW on September 05, 2020, 06:26:56 PM
The MMRCG runs a military radio net Saturdays on 7296 at 1400Z - normally USB, but AM on the first Saturday of each month. There were over a dozen check-ins and a good time was had by all. I fired up the mighty AN/FRT-17 (ex-W3FJJ) and got nice reports up and down the East Coast.
And 45 minutes earlier, there was a military RATT (RTTY) net with nine check-ins. For it I was using the AN/FRT-70 (1kw TMC synthesized xmtr w/ 72 tubes) hooked up to a Model 28ASR Teletype. I did my listening on an AN/URR-74 Watkins-Johnson rig.
Lots of good clean vintage fun today!
Nick

72 tubes!  Man, I couldn't run that hear without it's own air conditioner!
