Title: Vacuum Tube Prototype Circuitry Design Breadboarding Engineering Kit.....
Post by: W1RC on June 21, 2020, 06:26:30 AM
This is a very rare find indeed: It’s an Erectronics System vacuum tube circuit design set made by Science Electronics Inc. of Nashua NH.  It is for development engineering, prototype breadboarding as well as an educational teaching learning tool from the mid 1960s.

It came from M.I.T.

The base board measures 24-1/4” by 17”. There are over 250 “elements” that hold the various components with connecting posts that can be attached to the base board and clipped together to create prototype circuitry for testing and revision.

The documentation includes marketing literature for industrial and educational markets but this set seems to be for product development judging from the great number of bases, both with components and without (77) so the user can make their own “elements”.

Also included is a catalog of the different bases and components available for this set.  Documents indicate the date of this item to be June 1965.  However there is no “manual” per se.  The documentation does reference several textbooks whose experiments can be performed with this kit.

The set comes with 148 resistors, 18 10W power resistors, 39 capacitors, 4 pots, 13 tube sockets, 77 empty component bases and a large number of connecting wire leads with snap connectors so you can make your own custom modules such as inductors, IF cans, etc. to make radios.  Power transformers are not included.

This is a rare opportunity to own this incredible vacuum tube engineering tool.  This is the only one of these I have ever seen.  It shows very little sign of usage.  It came from M.I.T.

Price is $300.00 plus shipping.

Shipping is $20.00 - $30.00 depending on Zip Code because it will have to be shipped in two packages due of the large size of the base board.
