Title: NC303 Band switch Post by: Detroit47 on January 20, 2020, 01:04:00 PM Any thoughts on cleaning a cruddy band switch? My NC303 has been gone thru and plays nice. With the exception of the band switch. On some bands I have to rock and fiddle with it to make contact. I have used all the miracle stuff Deoxit contact cleaner etc. The only thing that seemed to work was what I call the nuclear option. I am sure you gotta remember Tarn X from later night TV. This stuff takes anything off but it isn't gentle and then you have to get it off. Thoughts comments.

AM audio improves by riding the RF gain and AF gain much like tuning SSB. Also the speaker callout is for a 4 ohm speaker but it seems to me the audio quality improves with an 8 ohm speaker. Oddly the 300's callout 8 ohm while the 303 manual states 4 ohm!? I do remember a MOD in the audio section done a few years ago, you might try a search on National MODS. 73 K7MDO |
