Thanks Kevin and Merry Christmas to you!

BTW, I've given you a few calls on 50.400MHz. I have the 6 meter rig listening there 24/7. Try it some time.

I have a grievance to report.  My trees continue to throw my doublets on the ground, and they blame the strong north wind.  In retaliation, I have installed a PERMANENT Festivus Pole, supporting my new inverted vee.  Now it will stay up, wind or no wind.  I don't need no stinkin' trees!

Does anyone else have a grievance to share on Festivus day?

Is it a Festivus pole when it has Cu wire on it? Can be a distraction...

Since a key element of Festivus is the airing of grievances, we should have a special holiday session of the Piss and Moan Net!

I rebuilt a 1960's theater exit sign for my niece. Teenagers like cool stuff like that.
So ditched the two 20W lamps and put in 5 LED strips and a 12V DC power jack. At 5W it can be left on and glows intensely since the red LEDs make a narrow spectrum. It's not too bright at night and won't destroy dark adapted vision.

That EXIT sign brought back a memory.

Sometime in 1973, Slade (a rowdy and very popular rock band in Western Europe but not so much here) was playing at one of our illustrious theaters in downtown Cleveland. During the concert, being in the typical (but required protocol) state of mind for a Cleveland rock concert (unabashed, remorseless annebriation) I decided to remove an exit sign above one of the emergency exit doors not far from the stage. I climbed atop of one of my friends shoulders, a few thousand watching in disbelief, and proceeded to remove that very type of EXIT sign right out of it's spot above the door.

Once down to floor level, I realized that the sign had a battery backup and no matter where I tried to hide this sign, the red 'EXIT' was fully illuminated and reminding me of what I had done. This continued through the entire concert and as I somehow sneaked the sign out the door past security and police, down Euclid Avenue and eventually to my apartment.

I eventually had to drape a Led Zeppelin poster over the sign, as three days later, sitting like some kind of trophy on one of my speaker cabinets, it continued to remain fully lit up and I couldn't sleep my normal 1-2 hours.

As I think back these days, (46 years later) I realize what a 'lucky to still be alive' frickin' nut case I was....
