Title: VE3ELQ modulator board UPDATE
Post by: km6sn on December 07, 2019, 04:13:06 PM
update 1/3/20

Andy, ND8D has graciously shared his PCB  layouts for Nigel's PWM generator
and PWM driver. With this board set you can make a complete modulator.

The PWM generator is      https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/Dw1PsRCf

and the PWM driver is      https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/E39m7Eaa

Many thanks to Andy for his generous contribution to the art.

...... end update

After struggling with KICAD to make a VE3ELQ PWM board, I discovered
deeply buried in some of these posts that OSHPARK has ready-made
boards for Nigel's modulator, courtesy of ND8D (thanks ND8D).

Hello!

I forgot about that PWB on OHSPARK. I would not recommend ordering it since I got the wrong footprint for the IR2110S on there and it is a royal pain to make work.

I have since iterated that design into two seperate boards, a MiniPWM and PWM_Driver, One is for low level PWM generation and the other for driving the half bridge.

MiniPWM:

PWM Driver:

I have some larger boards made but they are not economical to run through OSH park. For example. I have a PWM driver board with the filter integrated on board, a more advanced PWM modulator board with an arduino and VFO on board, and a handful of PA designs.

Most of these I run through board houses that require a minimum order of 10, so I have extra bare boards I can sell for the cost of shipping!

I have my own layout that I am building just for me. I would  not make Nigel's work available other than doing a project for myself unless he approved. I hope that he approved yours.

On my version,  I separated the output board and the PWM drive. Working on a 400 watt 75 meter rig now.

The PWM generator is a surface mount board and the output board is through hole single sided. Doing some testing now

Simples

About an inch square.
