I am looking for a schematic of a phone transmitter using the 4D32. I have the Collins 32V, but can't find the Hammar HT-20. If anyone has a home grown design, I would welcome that as well. I want to build a simple 80/40 meter 100 watt class rig with the 4D32 modulated by a pair of 6550's. Thanks Bob W4RFM.

You can't find the HT-20 because it's a Hallicrafters not a Hammerlund. http://jptronics.org/Hallicrafters/manuals/halli.ht-20.pdf

The Johnson Viking I used a single 4D32 before they went with the pair of 6146s in the Viking II.  Not really a whole lot of difference.  You could probably sub a single 4D32 for most any dual 6146 design.

There is a good article in CQ.  Sometime back in the mid to late 1950's.

If you cannot find it, I will dig it up for you.

Tom Marcellino, W3BYM, has designed a number of transmitters using the 4D32 tube. All of them CW. Those articles are in Electric Radio. Might be worth looking at for some ideas. Keep us posted. 73s,  Marty, KK4RF

This is my 80/40 4D32 rig. The power supply and modulator is a separate chassis that I can tuck under the desk. The modulators are 809's.

Maybe use a bias supply for the grid, and lose the clamp tube.
