Title: 210 Foot Loop for 80M Question
Post by: W6TOM on October 16, 2019, 07:40:24 PM
My current antenna is a 450 ohm window line fed 130 foot dipole, this antenna is in a sharp V so to fit on my small 50 X 100 foot yard. The center of the antenna is at 45 feet using a tree in the back corner of my yard. I use a Palstar BT-1500A Balanced Line tuner.
My current dipole is good for 80 to 10 Meters

I could add to the antenna and make a loop the total length of which would be around 210 feet.

I'm curious if anyone has tried a short loop of this size and if so how well it might work on 80 which is where I do most of my operating, thanks!!

Tom -

I have a similar situation...both a resonant dipole on 3865 and a non-resonant loop which is about 190 feet total length, fed with open-wire feeders and remote antenna tuner.  The dipole usually gets out better but the loop has FAR better S/N on Rx.  Consequently, I usually use the loop.

I have a 180 foot horizontal delta loop. Highest corner at 55 feet, lower corners at 30 feet. Works well on 75 phone up to 1000 miles. Haven't tried it on DX. YMMV, 73, Rod
