Title: good contacts Costa Rica - USA
Post by: PA0NVD on October 14, 2019, 07:13:58 PM
I tuned my Philips 50W transmitter to the 20 meter band at 14.286 and tried today. Immediately results! Several SSB stations came back and gave me very nice reports, upto 9+ Worked K5REW, W5FKN, KA4BTA/M. N0NWY and WB4IKR.
Than some real AM-AM contacts with KA1BWO and with W9KMF. Both with excelent modulation.
And with nice signals on both sides. Unfortunately the QSO with W9KMF was interrupted because I lost the bias of my modulator PA tube which directly got red anodes.  The transmitter is totally original still with the selenium rectifiers for the bias and the old Philips electrolytic capacitors.  So probably lost a rectifier or the electrolytic capacitor across the bias.  Some work to do!!
Really my first AM contacts on 20 from off Costa Rica!!  FUN   ;D
