Title: Replacement Speaker For NC183DTS
Post by: W3ON on October 07, 2019, 01:42:49 PM
Hello
Does anyone have information on the speaker used in the National NC183DTS Speaker?
I suspect the speaker is a: Mid-Range, 10 inch, 8 ohm, round 10 watt speaker.
If that is so, I have been looking for a replacement for the speaker. The NC183DTS speaker that I purchased had several small tears in the cone. I tried repairing the tears using methods described on YouTube, etc. If I can't find a replacement, I may end up trying to replace the cone.
Any advice would be appreciated.

There still exist speaker reconing shops. For a reasonable fee they'll put an appropriate cone in there that is brand new.

Not sure where you are, but this is the one around here:

Have used them for about 30 years.

Thanks for the information. I will take a look at that company.
I am going to try one more thing today. I am going to reverse the
leads on the speaker to see if I might have the connecting wires
connected wrong. I listened to a local 10 meter net last evening,
without my DSP device (a timewave 599) connected. I did detect some distortion on the received
signal.
