Sure wish I could bring the radio! 6 miles to the nearest beach and a 150 foot tower! I'm going to ask the control operator if I can bring a 100 Watt radio and a screwdriver antenna next time. The helipad is about 200 foot above sea level, I believe I can be at 150 feet, with the rig as a reflector. Maybe bring extra coax to change the location over a period of days. (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0a/Maunsell_Army_Fort.jpg/220px-Maunsell_Army_Fort.jpg) Like these, your location offers an ideal ground with a steel structure standing in salt water plus a 1/4 wave tower to hang a sloper from or possibly shunt feed (I hope you've got lots of pull there). Even still, a kite supported vertical off the leeward edge would be very effective and out of the way. Impressive! |
