Mike digital modulation has been around the broadcast band for a long time. Lots of information on the web. Maybe you heard that they are talking about going all digital. Now the stations that do digital, like WTIC, do it with regular AM simultaneously. They have  digital sidebands that sound like noise above and below the carrier. The sidebands are in a range that doesn't interfere with  the  regular am if the IF bandpass is narrow enough. It sucks for AM dxing of adjacent stations. Or are you talking  about something  else?
