Title: 3885 and mw
Post by: pe1mph on March 26, 2019, 09:59:56 AM
Hello AM Lovers,
After a long, long time I heard this morning AM on 3885 khz on my receiver!
Just over 06.00 hour by us in the morning and I were surpriced!

Therefore I check if I was not dreaming anymore.... ;)
To listen on these webreceiver: http://k2sdr.dyndns.org:8902/m.html on my mobile phone.
And yes I heard the same audio comming out my phone and out the Kenwood speaker.

I could hear 3 AM stations and I did hear Tim: WA1HLR (the long talker?)
Evenso I heard 2 other stations, but not so good like him.
I made from one a little recording with my mobile phone, see below.
Sorry I missed his call and name.....
The 3-th station were very weak I heard only some words.

Just before I listen to 80 mtrs I listen to the Mediumwave.
Mostly like every morning I heard BC station Bloomberg on 1130 khz.
But not very strong, perhaps it is comming by the light...
Mornings it is (a little before 6 o'clock) not dark, but we get already some light...
So the BC stations from Canada: 590 (VOCM) and 930 (Kixx Country) were stronger.

Oh by the way often I hear 'digitale' noise around 3880 khz.
Lucky for me, this morning only a few times splattering to 3885 khz.

Thats all for this day and for me a happy feeling to receive AM from the USA on 80 mtrs! :)
Maybe some reader (and listener) recognize the station on the short recording I made.

Greetings,

Henk - PE1MPH

I am really envious of your quiet receiving situation and also of the apparently wonderful transmitting locations of the people you hear. I think most envious of the great receiving situation.

Hello Patrick and other readers,
My qth, Dokkum, lies in the north of The Netherlands not far away from the (Wadden) sea.
Yes I know I have a good place for reception!
I, PE1MPH, had already many qso's with AM stations from the USA on 80 mtrs.
For example on 3705 and 3710 khz, when I used only +/- 140 Watts.

Last years, I am some times qrv (weekend mornings) on 3660 khz.
A pity, I never heard an AM station from the USA on that freq.....

And on mw I have heard already 'plenty' BC stations from the USA, see (if you want):

Hi, hi...... its seems to be 'normal' I hear nearly every morning Bloomberg on 1130 khz. ;)

And during many years I listen, before I go to my work, between 06 - +/- 06.25 hour by me.
I monitoring mw, 80 and sometimes 40 mtrs.
When I hear AM stations, I 'put' the results on this AM Forum (like today). ;)

And every morning it is for me a surprice which stations I can receive. ;D

GOOD DX,

Oke Steve, ;)
The recording above I made in our livingroom.
Where the Kenwood is connect with an end feeded wire +/- 30 mtr long.
Hanging from North to South.
This morning I heard no AM from the USA.

But on mw 1660 khz a 'Christian Station', WGIT? :)

For 3660 khz I use a coaxial feeded Inverted V antenna.

Hi, hi....

Now I hear K4KYV (Don) on 3885 khz.
Talking about his WD4(0).

Time now 06.35 hours winter time by me.

They other station I can not hear. :'(

I receive Don now on my Inverted V, he did have some fading.
But most I can hear, now he did mention Nashville USA.

I guess he is now stopping his 'talks' on 3885...
Because I did hear now (06.45 hour) nothing anymore on 3885 khz.

A pity I did had this morning no qso on 3660 this morning.
I heard only ssb, contesters...

Hi, hi....

Easter morning I heard Tim & Don talking on 3885 khz.
Tim did mentioned: BC1T

Now, 06.50 by my, I heard still AM talkers on 3885.
But no calls or names....
Talking about wire, line, copper...

Earlier I tried to qso with 9H1ES on 3660.
But he does not heard me... :'(

Later I had a (locale) qso with PA3ASS on 3660.
