http://www.cscmgt.com/atc.html (http://www.cscmgt.com/images/alpine_tower.jpg) Sam / KS2AM Title: Alpine Tower FM Broadcast @ 42.8 MC Post by: W2JBL on April 15, 2005, 12:03:56 AM last summer i had the pleasure of working at Alpine for a few days. it's a most excellent operation, and oozes radio history. i even had the privledge of a tour through the origional transmitter building which is now a museum of Armstrong's life and works. his personal boatanchor collection is displayed there, as well as his homebrew stuff, and parts of the origional W2XMN transmiter. security there is tight, and everything by appointment only. it's a shame that in these post 9-11-01 days it's not open to the public.

I serviced paging transmitters at the Alpine tower location back in the mid-90s. I got sent out there not realizing it was THAT tower... It was a delight to find that it was my destination! I also saw the museum building, with an old FM transmitter in it. Remarkable bit of history.
