Title: DX-100 tuning instructions wanted
Post by: Dave WA1SCI on April 08, 2005, 09:38:04 AM
Just got a DX-100, but no documentation. This one has the coarse loading knob upgrade. (Only one red knob)   Could someone email me a summary of the tuning directions for CW and Phone?

Thanks,
David

Title: instructions for DX100

Go to to BAMA manuals website. Google it. You have better luck during the day with the mirror website for downloads. The DX100 docs that you need are there. You only need the first 5 pages or so of the files, to get the pertainant tuning procedure and normal meter readings.

I have enjoyed modernizing my DX100 immensely, see the running commentary on this forum. The thing was a great bargain in its day, but it did  have some areas of less than stellar performance and reliability. One of the worst is the way they borrowed screen voltage for the modulator tubes from the center tap of the HV bleeded. In mine it really pushed one side >450 V and the other <350 V on modulation peaks. Hard on the caps.

Before you fire it up (if you haven't already) be sure to reform the electrolytics or replace them, esp the two HV capacitors in series. Otherwise you run the risk of rupturing one, or worse, eating the transformer if it overheats first. Have a blast!
