Title: Ungrounding electrostatic shieid Post by: kd1nw on October 14, 2018, 07:37:02 AM Hi Folks,
It seems the electrostatic shield of my nc173 power transformer shorted to the secondary. Disconnecting it from ground fixes the radio but I just want to make sure there aren't any safety problems with doing this that I'm not understanding? Thanks 73 Kevin Title: Re: Ungrounding electrostatic shieid Post by: MikeKE0ZUinkcmo on October 14, 2018, 09:41:01 AM Don't see a problem so long as it doesn't/hasn't shorted to the winding in more than one place. That would be noted in higher than normal power consumption and excessive transformer heating.
