Very nice! Big glass tube should glow well!

7.5 Volts at 50 amps, indeed nice view. I tried it once but I don't have a powersupply here in Costa Rica

Maybe a trip to the local electric distribution company with a few bucks, for an old  2400V or 4800V pole pig with two HV terminals?

Sounds as a  good idea, don't provoke me.... But I think that the pole pigs here in CR are all 19 kV
Whenever comes the time that I run into a power supply, I like to try the cathode/grid modulation with a simple power FET. A single 1200 V FET may modulate the tube running at 1500 W carrier
