Title: A Suggested LV Supply for Clark's 4X4
Post by: DMOD on April 20, 2018, 04:56:09 PM
In order to offload some of the current from the HV B+ supply here is a suggested separate LV Supply for Clark's 6146 4X4 system.

The Voltage Divider would be energized from the same Keying relay that energizes the HV B+ transformer but on separate contacts.

That way, he can use the 50K 100W resistor as solely the bleed resistor for the 600 Volt supply and not have to worry about multiple taps on it:

Wow, thanks, Phil!  I hadn't expected to see a dedicated thread for this!

I was able to get along with just one tap from the main bleeder (50k/100W) by setting it for the driver plate supply then adding a resistor from there for the screens with a regulator tube.  Seems to work, but disaster struck (see original thread for details).

Actually, I may have an even better option. The power transformer HV secondary has an unused CT (full wave bridge) so there’s a nice 300V source.

Very good idea.  You would still need a LC filter off the CT.

Cool. I have a number of 150 mA chokes if you need them.

Thanks, Phil! That's very kind. I fabricated and tested this solution which seems to work very well...
