I'm pretty sure you lost your tennis ball canon. Is there someone around the area that can loan you theirs? I have a 2 oz lead weight canon but we are too far apart. It's the one Steve W2TRH had. I didn't lose any trees, but one end of my 75 meter dipole came down on Friday. That was some wind storm.

I got about 8-9 inches of heavy wet snow. It took down many big sections of trees or whole trees on my property. I have some stuff down on all four sides of the house. The winds weren't too bad near where I live, but the weight of the snow was the issue. Nearly half a million homes and businesses were reported to be without power since last Friday in the NY-NJ-CT tri-state area, but I lucked out and was dark for only about two hours last Saturday.

We lost about 1/3 of a huge tree in the backyard, it fell about 10 feet behind my daughter's swing set (which I moved forward about 15 feet last year). She happened to be standing in her bedroom window with me when it snapped and fell. Quite a site, as the piece was bigger than many of the trees around it. There was also a lot of damage locally, including the road that winds through Prince William forest. I take this every morning because it empties out directly in front of the front gate at Quantico while avoiding the traffic and lights on 234 as well as the craziness of I-95. It's twisting and winding, 45mph speed limit, but far a less aggravating 15 miles. The Marines have their training range on one side of the road, the forest is on the other. Many tall pines and other softwoods. A *lot* of damage, the road was actually closed for 3 days. Thought I'd lose my mind (what little remains) waiting for it to re-open. Some photos... Hundreds of trees snapped like toothpicks or uprooted. There are places you can look out into the forest and it looks like they dropped a Daisy Cutter. It'll take a year just to clean up what's along side the road. A lot fell into the power line ROW too.

One end of the 80 meter dipole broke. The wire broke within feed of the end. I have to admit to not checking the wire in many years, so I payed for my lax preventive maintenance. |
