Post by: pe1mph on January 19, 2018, 10:39:08 AM
Hello AM Lovers,
We tried a short time the freq.: 3615 khz for AM.
But to many ssb on and close to the freq.
Therefore we go back to 3660 khz.

I hope we can receive each other good in AM!
Mostly we are qrv at +/- 06.00 (05.00 GMT time) in the morning.
Till +/- 06.20 we are talking and listening!
Only during the weekend mornings....

Perhaps you can receive us and you are welcome to break in! :)

We are: F6AQK, 9H1ES and PE1MPH

Greetings,

Groeten Henk,

I hope your antennas have survived the recent winds in NL!

I'll listen for you at those times, but not having "Extra" privileges for 3600-3700 means sending back is niet mogelijk...

Clark

Hello Buddly and other AM Lovers,
Yes I received your email, thanks.
Which DX window you use?

Maybe I wrote it not clearly....
We have been using some years 3660 khz.
But often ssb, so we tried a few weeks 3615 khz.
Thats the AM freq. from AM lovers in the UK.
I did ask them, we can use it early mornings... hi, hi...

But I heard MORE ssb on/around 3615....
Therefore we did qsy again to 3660 khz.

No this freq. is't ssb free!
But during the comming weekends we are qrv on 3660 khz.
Perhaps we find a freq. which is cleaner/better....

When I am qrv on 3660 khz, I listen evenso on the background to webreceivers by pc.
A pity last weeks bad conditions on 80 meters....

This afternoon I had a talk with LA2OLD on 3660 khz.
Evenso Jan, PA3HCO, had a talk with him.

I hope I am correct now...
In the USA they need a special licence to transmit between 3600 - 3700 khz.
It can be 'handy' for us (Europeans) to transmit between 3700 - 3800 to get a qso with the USA! :D

Good AM DX,

The DX window I mentioned is the 3790-3800 section.

In the US Extra Class licensees can use 3600-3700 kHz.

Split frequency operations are also allowed!

Thanks for the signal report Brad!

You're welcome.  Your always seem to have a good path into this area on 75M.

PE1MPH: Tonight if 3660 KHz is occupied by SSB you may have to determine a different frequency on the fly.  I suggest posting here or you could even use http://www.amwatch.potomac-am.com/ (http://www.amwatch.potomac-am.com/) that's what it's for.

Thanks for all (AM) info!
This morning only F6AQK were standby.
And we both heard a weak carrier without audio on 3660.
Hopefull a next weekend/time better on 3660 khz.

I shall monitor next days...
Perhaps 3710 khz is better freq. early mornings?
But ssb stations are mornings qrv on the hole 80 meter band.... :'(

Hello Henk.

That carrier was possibly me! I was calling you about every 5 minutes between 05:00 and 06:00 UTC.
I did hear carriers and a little audio but could not pull it out.

I'll try again during the week!

Buddly

I heard the carrier and voice but could not make out what was being said or what language was being spoken.

What power levels, antennas are you using?

Brad

I'm using legal limit and a dipole at 75 feet!

IIRC, Henk runs about 100 watts. F6AQK runs about 200 watts and always had the best signal to my station. 9H1ES has a BC-610 on the air in the past. That would be 300+ watts.

Thanks Steve!

All correct and I heard you often Steve in AM.

Buddly,
You'll try again during the week!

Nice, but I receive only between 06.00 - 06.30 (our time).
After 06.30 I go (on my bike) to work.

I have listen this morning, nothing on 3660 khz.
But on mw I heard many BC stations.
For example: 590, 670, 930, 1030 and 1130 khz.

But I keep my 'eyes & ears' mornings on 3660 khz.
Evenso I check around 3885 khz.
