Title: New Sig Gen recommendation
Post by: K6JEK on December 27, 2017, 06:34:36 PM
My trusty WaveTek 2407 has gone belly up. Now what? I like to have reliable, accurate test equipment because I'm mystified enough without extra puzzlement from the bench.  Assuming I can't fix it (good assumption), what should I get? The WaveTek was overkill for working on ham gear, but it was flotsam from some Silicon Valley tech company so I got it cheap years ago and have enjoyed having such precision at my finger tips.

Any favorites?

PS: It says something when you realize your "new, modern equipment" is 25 years old.

Years ago, picked up a HP 8640B. Lots of whistles & bells. It has options 001,002, & 003. Fast set up and fun to use. With a R390/A an URM-25D was included with the purchase, it can be used for those really low IF frequencies.

Something tells me the URM-25D will be around much longer..........tubes. At the end of the day, both get the job done.
