Title: National Radio Day, August 20th ?
Post by: steve_qix on August 15, 2017, 11:58:38 AM
Maybe I don't get out enough, but until today, I had never heard of this official National Day - National Radio Day coming up on August 20th.

New to me.  Anyway, interesting that the importance of radio has been nationally recognized.

I think we should make it a national holiday, but only for people who hold FCC radio or FCC radio-related licenses  ;D  Talk about incentive licensing!

I believe that Steve failed to mention that the legislation creating national Radio Day states that anyone who presents a valid FCC commercial or amateur radio license is entitled to a free pint of beer or hard cider, and good looking chicks may not say no.  But why would they ever want to?

So get all those National transmitters, receivers, transceivers and amps and get on the air. I'll have to dig out my NC-303.

For National Radio Day, you don't actually get on the air (that's so 20th century; half serious-half joking).  Everything's virtual now.  If you're on Twitter or Instagram, use the hashtag #nationalradioday to post your picture and see what others posted.

Anyone can do it and there's no thinking involved!  Why on earth do we bother building and figuring out this stuff that's so complicated? Sorry, not trying to start a conversation about this.

Anyway, let the carriers (and hashtags) fly!
