Title: DX-100B clamp tube adjustment pot
Post by: kb3ouk on July 15, 2017, 07:51:44 PM
Can someone tell me if the pot for the clamp tube adjustment is supposed to be a linear taper or an audio taper? I picked one up a few weeks ago and found that the pot is froze up and won't turn, and it looks like it might've been replaced before. The pot that is in there now is stamped "500K AUDIO" on the bottom, but I can't find any indication on the parts list if it is supposed to be audio or linear taper.

Thanks

I can't see any reason to use an audio taper pot in this application. Go with linear taper.

as long as you can get to a good setting for your application, it really doesn't matter which taper you use ; however, if your adjustment point is twichy and difficult to get to then that taper is inappropriate ... Pete's suggestion is probably the best and most predictable

That's why I asked, I didn't think the audio taper put made sense in that circuit, and I couldn't seem to find anything in the parts list that mentioned what it was.
