Title: sdr software for mac
Post by: w4bfs on May 23, 2017, 03:02:36 PM
been touring the web looking for sdr software for mac osx ver 10.x ....I see some specific sw for specific hw but am confused as to what-is-what .... I've been out of the game too long to understand much of the abbreviated language heretofore mentioned .... I would rather not run windows 8 / parallel type of setup ....surely someone has something that is suitable or maybe my ignorance is too profound to get past or be able to understand ....help appreciated ....73 ... I've messed with CubicSDR briefly. There are others, depending on the SDR hardware you wish to use. One that looks impressive is SdrDx.

Others include GqRx

and SDR# (but I think it might only be tied to Airspy hardware now. It wasn't in the past).

That said, there are far more options in the PC realm. As Mac user, I bought a PC to play with the SDR stuff. I hate to say it, but I think you miss out otherwise.

I agree.  There's very little SDR software for the Mac.  I have a Mac, but I also have an inexpensive PC that I use for my ham radio stuff, SDR included.

AND, my plug for the SDRplay.  They run around $150 and it'll be the last receiver you'll ever need.  It's the size of a cigarette pack.  Put the tube receivers on eBay and be done with it.
