Title: Local Brewery with Radio Roots
Post by: WA2SQQ on April 26, 2017, 12:54:01 PM
Found a local craft beer brewery that appears to have some radio related history. Transmitter Brewing is located in Long Island City NY. Their labels use logos like the ARRL and abbreviations line “XMTR”. I reached out to the brewery and found out – “We are named after Transmitter Park in Greepoint Brooklyn and the labels are a reference to QSL cards.  Our designer found them at some point and used it as a design example for all our labels.  It helped us convey all the info we wanted to on our labels in a visually organized way.” - Anthony Accardi

Their beer isn’t your dad’s Budweiser. They brew some incredible farmhouse beers with funky earthy overtones.

I personally like the funky and earthy taste of farm house beers. Many would probably say, no thanks.

Are we speaking of the dark, thick and yeastie beers?

If so, not my thing.

But what a COOL find!

No, not necessarily dark. They use unique yeasts that give the brew a very earthy taste. They are gaining popularity, along with sour beers. They redefine the old "807's"
