I think I'll just get the old pot out, somehow and replace it without the switch. I'll just permanently leave the RF Gain pot in circuit. Finally he put them back on original sets... I didn't watch him but he told me they were just an evening project. Between us we have a couple of "spare -300's" if you need something but they do play and it would be quite shame to scrap them out. I have fixed a "jumped" tooth on the chain drive... without removing the panel.... If you want he would be amenable to a call and chat. I have a couple of 1 Meg Audio Pots (without switches) that I can use as a replacement. That RF Gain switch was eliminated in the NC-303 so I can probably do without it. Just need to make sure I connect the leads up right. Without the switch on the back, there is enough room to remove the Pot without removing the Front Panel. I removed the old AFG Pot and Switch, without having to remove AMfone - Dedicated to Amplitude Modulation on the Amateur Radio Bands
the panel. I left the RF Gain Control permanently in circuit, the NC-303 had done this, and replaced the Pot with a new 1 Meg Audio Taper Pot. Now the audio sounds much better, the AVC works again and after an alignment, the old girl sounds more like she did years ago. Thanks to all for the responses. 73, Dick, W1KSZ |
