The man that started ER. He'll be sadly missed. RIP.

Yeah, a great entrepreneur.  Sorry to hear of his passing.
Sure have enjoyed his and Ray's "ER" over the years.

More sad news. Got to meet Barry back in 2003 when I bought his 300G and drove from VT to southwest CO to pick it up. He and Shirley were great, best lemonade I ever drank. He had a LOT of vintage gear at that time but was in the process of selling it all. I think he and Shirley were planning to do some sailing after they sold the magazine.

Rest in Peace, Barry. And God be with Shirley.

So sorry to hear the news.  I had many great phone conversations with Barry and missed him when he dropped out of the Ham Radio scene.  Tried to locate him, but to no avail.   I was told he just wanted to remain isolated from the former ER subscribers and Ham Radio.  I could never find any contact information for him.   I just wanted to thank him for what he started with ER.

His disappearance from the hobby reminds me what happens a lot in Radio Club's.  Nobody want to be president and then the current president just gets fed up and runs away.

R.I.P. and God bless him. Good people are rarer than we think and we are only reminded how good when they are gone.

I met Barry in the 90s at Dayton.  He confided to me that he, like I, was a Canadian.  We became friends and I wrote the odd piece for ER under his tenure.  When he sold ER he told me he was returning to his native Saskatchewan primarily because the health care was better, at least according to him.

Barry Wiseman was a real gentleman and I am saddened to read of his passing.

73,

I was surprised and saddened to hear of Barry's passing. He encouraged me and offered suggestions on the articles I wrote many years ago for ER.

Rest in peace my friend.

Barry will be missed for sure.

ER was the hottest mag around during the revival of the AM mode, and all of the goodies that were out there. Many many articles to modify equipment for better transmit audio.

I met Barry and Shirley at the Albuquerque Hamfest somewhere around issue 8 or 9. They were wandering around the fest handing out sample issues to anyone interested. I had just bought a Johnson Mobile rig & VFO just because it was cool looking and he really helped fan the flames of the hobby (I still enjoy it, and still have the EFJ Mob..). I subscribed somewhere around issue 10 and have kept the subscription since then.

They were both very nice people who brought a lot of joy.
RIP Barry.
