Post by: KJ7USA on February 24, 2017, 02:01:33 AM
Had a my longest AM contact tonight on 7.290 with VK4VN. He was 59 here in Camarillo, CA transmitting on his KW-1. Band was in great shape! Hope to hear you all soon.

Contacted VK4VN again last night on 7.290, but this time the conditions weren't as good. I stayed up way too late trying to get some DX last night and am paying the price now. What would be the best time and frequency to speak with you guys on the East coast? It's exciting to make AM contacts outside the Southwest.

Just off the top of my head, I'd say any time after 0300Z or about 6 or 7 PM your time. It will depend mostly on if the frequency is clear of broadcast on this end.

I'll try again tonight. From what I have read, it looks like the East hangs out 7.285. That frequency usually doesn't have BC interference here in S. CA.

Well, I'm happy. Between 0330-0415 Z, I contacted KC5W(NM), N3TBW (PA), N4DAG (WA), NG4D (NC) on 7.290. Maybe next time I might hear one of you guys!
