Title: Paul K2ORC under the knife
Post by: WD8BIL on February 14, 2017, 01:35:13 PM
Paul K2ORC, who just very recently returned to the airways, is having back surgery today. Herniated L3/L4 disc.

Best wishes Paul!

I just talked to Paul -ORC a bit over a week ago when he checked into the Sunday AWA AM net.  It was great hearing him after many years of him being off the air.

Wish you all the best Paul for a great recovery.

Hope it turns out well. Something similar here, long story but surgery is a poor option. I sure hope it works for him !

Well, not the way I'd wanted to return to the airwaves, but stuff happens. We live in a lovely spot on a marsh beside the east branch of the Lynnhaven River in Virginia Beach.  My antenna is strung across the marsh.

The surgery involved a laminectomy of L3/L4 and fusion of levels L2, 3 & 4.   I've had prior lumbar surgeries back through the '90s and had thought I was done with it, but apparently not.  The fusion was to stabilized the lumbar spine.

I'll be out of work 4 to 6 weeks and will work my way back into things slowly.  The operation appears to have been a success but the area of the surgery is still quite sore.

Anyway this feels like a transmission on the Hemorrhoid and Hammertoe Net so I'll stop here.  I need to get more fire in the wire since 25 watts isn't much good when things are noisy and less than optimum.

Paul -

Good to hear the surgery went well.

I heard you on the AWA AM net on 75M a couple of weeks ago and your signal was S9 in northern Virginia.
