Title: Viking Valiant resistance measurements Post by: N2LK on February 09, 2017, 08:06:54 AM Good Morning, me again.
I have replaced all Electrolytics and paper caps and rewired the AC input to a 3-prong fused plug. I have the (3) 6146 PA tubes in radio, no others. VFO is not rewired yet. I was curious on the preliminary resistance test measures in the Viking construction manual and see my readings attached under the above conditions...I am surprised the results are so close given the age of this unit. I am looking for any inputs on the prelim readings and if anything indicated for repair at this point? All replies are super appreciated. 73, John-N2LK Title: Re: Viking Valiant resistance measurements Post by: DMOD on February 11, 2017, 12:52:01 PM Pages 34 and 35 of the Manual give the resistance measurements. If they are close, then when you get the complete tube set, bring it up on a Variac and measure voltages. I would not bring it up with the Finals alone. No bias could result in blowing the finals, unless you solid stated the bias supply. I solid state the bias supply to insure instant bias voltages on turn-on. Phil - AC0OB |
