Title: Recommendations for solid state AM rig
Post by: gseven on March 10, 2005, 10:54:03 PM
Does anyone have any recommendations on what would be a good sounding solid state AM rig?  I am trying to duplicate the old boat ancore tube sound. I am going to try using the Berhinger stuff in line stuff. Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Chris

There's no one best. You can check out this article for some opinions.

Most of the top-of-the-line DSP HF transceivers can be made to sound very acceptable on AM, and some of the older ones will do so with a little effort.

However you may want to question spending $2000+ on an IC756PRO to reproduce the sound of a $250 Heathkit boatanchor.
