I saw this car in Las Vegas last week. Its for sale at The Auto Collections museum. Some cars are not for sale like the John Kennedy limo. Much of the rest are a revolving show of cars for sale like this Mercury which I think was a 51? The space is an old parking garage so as I walked up the ramp looking at the cars I happened to look back at the front of the Merc and saw the license plate. I didn't notice if the was one on the back.
The call searched out as a George Mooradian, expired license, from Los Angeles. The name search produced a gentleman that is a famous cinematographer but he is in his late 60's. Likely not the owner.
Anyway, it was weird to see a call sign on such an old license plate.

Very interesting.   I recall one of the Hosstraders regulars used to show up in a chopped 49 Merc, but haven't seen it there in many years now.

Here in the NE are we had our late friend who was W1GAC (George Mouridian)

Quite a coincidence  that the last names may be pronounced nearly the same?

May simply be Calif. numbering system back in '56.
For instance my Nevada plate when I lived in Las Vegas in '66 when working at NTS was CE8152; CE stood for Clark County.

yep, I had considered the coincidence of just numbers on a plate too. I remember my elmer Bert, W3ENM, had a vanity plate back in the late 60's early 70's. I never really paid attention to how early calls were used on license plates.

Hi:

W1GAC George's parents last name was "Mouradian" when they emigrated to America. Some time he changed his last name to "Mouridian". Le liked cars, and wonder if this car was related to him at all.
