Title: Flameotrol Tube Post by: KL7OF on June 30, 2016, 07:46:37 PM It is marked CK 5608.......I find 5608 without the ck prefix and it looks like a dual triode....link...( https://frank.pocnet.net/sheets/201/5/5608.pdf ) 1948 date Labeled for Wheelco corp. Has a sticker that says DANGER..."When top of glass shows white, REPLACE TUBE" Has 2 pins strapped together on the base...I will post some pictures...

Title: Re: Flameotrol Tube Post by: Mike/W8BAC on June 30, 2016, 08:04:30 PM Interesting Steve,
I hope you find someone here that knows what on earth this might be used in. I'll be monitoring, so to speak. 8) Mike Title: Re: Flameotrol Tube Post by: KL7OF on June 30, 2016, 08:07:37 PM 5.5 watt dissapation per plate...med mu audio uses? Was originally used for burner control, fuel regulation ?
Title: Re: Flameotrol Tube Post by: KD6VXI on June 30, 2016, 08:08:13 PM Used in flame control in boiler systems.

Title: Re: Flameotrol Tube Post by: KA0HCP on June 30, 2016, 08:48:40 PM The tricky part is slipping the match in to light the tube!
Title: Re: Flameotrol Tube Post by: KL7OF on June 30, 2016, 09:51:57 PM IF..... it is in fact a 5608.... it was designed for ac on the plates.....What would be the design difference between AC or DC plates? Could the tube be used with DC on the plate...??
Title: Re: Flameotrol Tube Post by: DMOD on June 30, 2016, 11:05:44 PM The 5608 is a simply a medium Mu, duo-triode with a common cathode (pin 4).
The 5608 was replaced by the 6J6: https://frank.pocnet.net/sheets/093/6/6J6.pdf One could use it as a dual medium mu audio triode. With the strap the filament will be at the same potential as the cathode. I saw this once in a boiler control. it was the first AND gate so to speak. One of the grids sensed pilot light heat via a thermocouple, the other grid went to an "on" or activate switch. Both plates went to the AC supply. The cathode went to an AC relay that when pulled-in, opened the main burner gas valve. As referenced by this mfg being peddled on the Bay. http://m.ebay.com/itm/5608A-DUAL-TRIODE-AMPLIFIER-TUBE-BARBER-COLMAN-31-011-300-CONTROL-/191888222442?nav=SEARCH --Shane KD6VXI Title: Re: Flameotrol Tube Post by: Opcom on July 01, 2016, 07:08:45 PM The 5608 was registered by Raytheon. Compare the curves and plate power roughly to a 6N7. or 6A6.
