Title: 3660 & 3874
Post by: pe1mph on May 21, 2016, 12:45:54 AM
Hello AM Lovers,

This morning I were early (+/- 03.30 GMT Time) in my studio.
On 3660 no station....

Therefore I listen around 3874 khz.
Where I heard AM stations from the USA.
I were faling nearly from my chair.....
Did I heard it correct... did I hear AM?

YES, I heard AM from the USA after a very long time!
But signals were not strong and who I heard??
I am not sure but one man sounding like: Tim WA1HLR???
And he? was talking with 2 or 3 other AM stations.

Ofcourse I take a look on the S-meter.
All signals were between S 0 and S 5, no more...

Between +/- 3880 - 3890 khz I receive often digitale mode signals?!
Only between +/- 3870 - 3880 I can receive an AM station....

Who were those USA-AM-stations this morning (by me) on +/- 3874 khz??? ???

But I saw on the studio clock.... time nearly 6 o'clock! :D

So I listen quickly to 3660 khz if Jean F6AQK is already on air.
And yes I heard him calling in AM with a good signal.
Later Fortunato 9H1ES I could hear him, but weak.
From him I could hear only some words....
Some times his signal were complete away.

With another radio I listen to 3874 khz.
The AM signals from the USA were comming weaker and weaker....
I heard an AM lovers saying: Thanks for the qso I go qrt.

But on 3660 I could not hear Fortunato anymore.
So I did say: I go qrt and I give my regards to Jean and Fortunato.

But.... but... I did receive only Jean and Fortunato on 3660 khz!
No ssb station till +/- 06.30 hour.

Hallo,

This morning I received some stations on 3875 again.
I made a recording, see and listen below.

This station I could hear the best with S2 to S5.
Sorry, but many fading on his signal.
I hope the recording is good, to hear who it is?

I made the recording at +/- 03.30 hours GMT time.
By me it was +/- 05.30 hours..
Later I did have a qso on 3660 khz in AM.
With Jean and Fortunato, but only F6AQK I could hear...

Henk,

Great recording and a pretty good signals. I don't recognize the voice. The person is probably around 60 years old as in the comments about Mohammed Ali's death they referred to his dodging the draft and the many different things going on in the U.S. during that time frame. A younger person probably wouldn't have made those comments and they were also made with an "I know, I was there attitude".

This person is probably from Upstate NY, not New England, NYC or Jersey, and not from down south. I say this because it appears to me he has no accent. I grew up in Western NY and the only people who to me appear to have no accent are from Upstate NY, going into Penn and parts of Northern Ohio.

Maybe someone here will recognize the voice.

Thanks for the post & 73

Martin

Sounds like Bill W1LLY to me.

Oke, maybe he is reading it and listen to my recording!
He was talking with some, but their signals were weak...

Often I listen around that freq., but often I heard no AM.
Bad conditions, but last Saturday.... hi, hi...

Thanks for your reactions,
