I don't understand why his illuminated lamp didn't brighten with audio peaks unless it was not an rf dummy load but perhaps a plate current indicator .... I didn't see another meter ....sounded fb

Soooo this is a shortwave pirate getting ready for air time... How could we determine the audio quality with a cell phone camera and the sound coming out of portable radio??? Might be a DYNO MITE sound...
No flickering light might be really low modulation...

Whatever happened to the animated cartoons where you type the dialogue and there were computer voices?
There were some funny ones about AM and 3880.

some low power homebrewed AM rigs at this website: http://www.stationqrp.com/     

They can be modified for ham freq use. They look fairly straight forward.
