It was exactly synchronous with my LaCross WWVB analog clock - so the thing must actually work after all. My computer clock was about 7 seconds fast. Until now I have had it set to synchronise with the time.windows.com time server. I reset the computer to the time.nist.gov server and I now see about a 1 second difference. I notice there are several NIST sites and a few others available. Some day when I have time on my hands I'll check out to see which one is closest to WWV on the radio.
Since WWVB covers most of the country 24 hours a day, wonder if anyone has ever attempted to use it to lock the clock oscillator of a digital vfo, to achieve near-WWV stability and accuracy with one's transmit frequency.
