Title: W2NBC new xmtr!
Post by: wa1knx on February 23, 2016, 03:44:50 AM
Well I just got off the air on 75 with W2NBC Jeff, and Brandon K5IIA. Congrats
Jeff!  He said we were his first 'virgin' contacts with his new HB rig! 4-1000 by 2 4-400's.  Just sounds *absolutely* tremendous. +30db over in Tucson AZ!! QRZ shows jeff 2100+ miles to me, amazing signal.   Brandons sporting a new 120' dipole. he hit me with +20-30, with his new antenna (on the way to 140'!)

73 Deano..

Brandon and Don,  K4KYV are the only eastern coast regulars I hear quite often.

My 7k foot qth was able to reliably talk to HLR at times too.

Brandon has quite a station.   Can't wait to hear it with the new elevation.

Jeff sounded great, but I think his new transmitter was the Virgin, not deano or myself.  We are both wore out haha.

It sounded nice here last night.

If I had my lin~yar online, I might have said hello, and been the First One.

I was glad to hear Jeff.  I hope more people start getting on.   Me and deano went to 40m after signing with Jeff and the band was good over here with very little noise compared to 75m.

We were on 3885, and condx were good last night.  You ok over there Brandon?  I saw vicious t-storms and tornadoes just north of New Orleans on the national news today. Nasty stuff

I was listening in to the Maiden Voyage of the new Tall Ship Jeff.  I was stuck at work but the rig sounded great on the N4DKD Birmingham, AL websdr receiver.  I had opened it up to 15K filters and it was wonderful.  I heard Dean-o in there too after a while and he was making Birmingham, AL with no problems.  Congratulations and a great sounding rig.  I get the feeling all your stuff (Looking at the QRZ page) are top notch before you ever make RF with them.  :)

73 and congrats again.

After you signed and left I tried to follow Brandon and Dean-o to 40 meters and had some success listening on the Michigan Great Lakes receiver... the other ones would receive one or the other but not both.

3875 to 3890
7290 to 7300

And the 20m Monday net.

21.420
29.00

It's funny the bands seem dead at times but they are really not.  Just gota set up a schedule wit someone and give it a try.  40 was dead when myself and deano went there, but it was perfectly useable.

Everything must be ok with the tower and stuff...tornadoes all around your area..good to see you not posting  about issues with that.

Sounds like you guys are all on later than I can manage to stay awake, I have a hard enough time just to stay on til 11 or 12 at night when I do get on the air, because that's when things start to calm down on the band.
