Title: Lettine 240 arrived... repairs begin!
Post by: n4joy on February 18, 2016, 10:22:21 PM
My Lettine 240 arrived today and I was pleased to see it is an unmolested specimen--original caps and no modifications.  Workmanship on this 240 is pretty good--far better than my 242.

I started recapping the unit this evening... new .001uf caps and a 15K resistor that couples between the 6V6 oscillator and the 807 final (original was nearly 70K and had signs of heat damage).

It has been a busy day with my Lettine transmitters.  I finished recapping the 240 today.  I also installed a new power cord, safety caps, replaced a few out-of-tolerance resistors, and also replaced some rotten wiring.  I need to find some coils for other bands (40, 20, and 10 meters) but did some testing with the 80 meter coils--everything works as it should and I am pleased with the audio.  Final is an 807 with a two 6L6 push-pull modulator.

I find that Scott's Liquid Gold does a wonderful job cleaning radio cabinets--it hasn't damaged paint during all the years I've used it.
