Title: Old Potter and Brumfield and or Midtex relay catalogs?
Post by: Opcom on October 15, 2015, 02:58:26 AM
Does anyone know where there are pld Potter and Brumfield and or Midtex relay catalogs?
Both these are now part of TE (Tyco), who has apparently disavowed any knowledge of ever having to do with Mecury Wetted contact relays..

These are nice Octal plugins. I would like to know the correct coil voltage and contact ratings, please.

Potter & Brumfield
JM-1114-12
JM-1114-11
(these might be a 7000 ohm? coil)

MIDTEX
163-111P00

Thanks in advance for any help.

Just poking about using the parts numbers i found an image that shows 700 ohms.

P,

I have a 1983 Newark Catalog that has some P&Bs listed. My scanner won't, but FWIW, the following.

Speed 3ms to 1.1ms possible, depending on coil power
Contacts rated at 2A max, 500 volt max with contact protection.

the  1983$ are in the $31.00 area.

I hope this helps. When my scanner decides to scan, I'll post a pic.

According to the original P&B data, the JM1 114 has a 700 ohm coil.  The 11 and 12 seem to indicate the basing.

Contact ratings:  "5 A max, 500 V max, not to exceed 250 VA with required contact protection.  Opening current:  not to exceed 5 A for any single contact.  Closing voltage not to exceed 500 V."

Coil:  700 ohms.  "Must operate at 20 ma"  "Max voltage 86.7"

If I can get my scanner to work [must be catching], will copy the pages covering these and get them to you.

P&B was started here in Princeton, IN, and W9FJI [SK] gave me a bunch of data years ago before he retired from there.

Thanks! Its hard to find the stuff on these old relays and they seldom seem to be bad.  The 20mA requirement is a surprise. That's what I mean, always some little details are lost when the parts are no longer made and the documents scarce. It would be super to scan the whole catalog or documents and post it online! I can be reached in PM for contact info on the items mentioned.

A friend is supposed to give me a box of similar relays that someone gave him and no one wants, hopefully the data will be available of them as well. I need to contact him!

Thanks again!
