Title: It Lives!
Post by: KA8WTK on October 01, 2015, 07:15:44 PM
At Dayton this year I bought a BC-611. About a month ago I purchased one of the inverter supplies from Italy. When I tried the radio with the new supply there was nothing.
Started by checking tubes. Yep, the 1R5 is no good. I had a new one and still no joy. Started checking more and found an open choke. With that replaced I decide to check the current draw from the PS - checks within specification. Alright! We have hiss from the speaker and I can hear it in a receiver. Time to step out of the shack and see if it can hear anything.

Robert Down has 3885 crystals for those. They have an immensely sensitive receiver. Cool rig.

Hi Bill,

I have one of those!  See you on the big 85 or maybe 3.705 after I get some xtals!  From Ercildoun to Tallmadge for a 305 mile contact  :).

How can you use one without screaming for mortar fire?

What I need now is a helmet that fits so I can tip it to one side when I use the radio.  ;D
