Title: IT'S W2PFY VS CHINA!!!
Post by: W2PFY on February 25, 2005, 07:43:53 PM
Hello in China.

Today I was operating my ham radio transmitter on 7.285 kcs and your broadcast suddenly came on and made it imposable for my friend and me to communicate. I looked up your broadcast schedule and nowhere does it show that you transmit on 7.285 kcs

When did you start transmitting on that frequency and please let me know how long you intend to use that frequency?  This happen at 3:00 PM eastern standard time on February 25, 2005. I noticed that your transmitters do transmit on 7.295 quite often. Your station is heard quite well up there.

Would you please discontinue operating on 7.285 so that my friends and  me may enjoy our amateur radio privileges on a daily basis?

Sincerely,

W2PFY

Terry,
Good move and please let us know if you get a response (I will too). Possibly if we all emailed them they would take notice, if nothing else.

I wonder if they have a frequency assignment on 7.285, or if they just decided to QSY on their own? Perhaps the IARU and some form of international broadcashers union would want to know about this.

Signed,
          One Hung Lo 3IBX

Terry,

I guess you don't follow the important bulletins on the China Radio International website like the rest of us do.  I'm sure they'll be happy to send you a QSL, in return for a signal report on their new West Europe feed:

http://en.chinabroadcast.cn/1174/2004-11-29/19@171762.htm

Seriously, since that end of 40 meters is a region-2-only allocation for amateurs, I don't expect the situation to change in our lifetime.  We were lucky enough to get an agreement at the WRC-03 conference that the broadcasters would vacate 7100-7200 kc but that won't happen until 2009.  I hope we're all around for that.
Believe it or not, there are folks that do listen to these broadcasts and who might like to see the amateurs that are interfering with their favorite broadcasts go away - its a two way street.  Both services are in the same area of the spectrum legally.

Anyways there are a crap-load of Region 1&3 broadcast stations that have allocations on "40 meters".   Heres a list so next time one of them clobbers your QSO you know exactly who to be pissed at:

Terry - Don't worry too much. Guaranteed they are using Chinese tubes and will delevelop a filament to grid short a few hours into the broadcast.

We can all jump in in between tube change-outs. and place orders for Chop-Suey with some of the finest restaurants on Northern Blvd. in Queens! (Maybe I have Little China cornfused with Little Korea?)

Wait till the US electric utilities begin purchasing Chinese-made BPL hardware.  It might even cover up the buzzies from Chinese touch-light switches.
