Who many mA should take the  V.V. meter for a full reading?

I knew at one time because I wound new meter shunts for my Valiant, but it's been over thirty years and senility has set in.

Why not disconnect the meter from the Valiant and wire it in series with your VOM, a 1.5 volt flash-light battery, and say a 5K pot?

That's the way I've always done it.
